Mahmoud Nikpour began skating at the age of seven in the city of Sanandaj, located in Iran’s Kurdistan Province. Due to the high cost of purchasing professional skating boots, he was unable to enter specialized skating disciplines until the age of twenty. At 20, he officially started freestyle skating, and shortly after, driven by a deep passion for figure skating, he transitioned into this discipline. In 2013, he joined the Enghelab Sports Complex in Tehran, where he began formal training in figure skating. In 2014, after competing in the National Open Championships and earning first place, he was invited to join the Iranian national team.
